Dear Father, thus far …

Dear Father,

It’s been quite a while since I accepted Your invitation to enter into a relationship with You.  I have never had a dull moment since then.  For thus far, You have stripped me of titles, my possessions, my pride and who I knew myself to be.  You stripped me of false confidences but You gave me Your name and opened the bounties of heaven for me.

Thus far, You led me away from my comfortable home and brought me to off-beaten tracks to serve the sick and the homeless.   Far from the hearth and people I know, You gave me new sisters and brothers who opened their homes to me.  I now have a family in every corner of the world.

Thus far, I’ve been to lonely, desolate places of the heart.  Distressed and forlorn, You kept watch over me, directing me to hope in Your Word and to persevere in the Spirit.  Now I am assured that nothing can separate me from Your love.

Thus far, divested of work and position, I am left with time to manage.  But as my Creator, You coaxed me to discover the talents You gave me.  Who would have thought that I would love baking, cooking and writing?  Even my secret passion for jewelries did not escape You.

Thus far, You have shown me that all is by Your grace and mercy.  The mighty dictator, the abusive leader, the corrupt official, the scheming co-worker — all these Your Son Jesus died for.  Who am I to condemn them?  Thus far, Your love endures and longs for the lost sheep to come to You.

Thus far, You have performed wondrous miracles in my life yet I have done little to share Your love.

Lord, let there be more ‘thus far’ experiences for me to boast of in Your name.

Romans 8:28

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Have you seen your past ‘challenges and so-called failures” all come together in God’s purposeful hands?
